यूँ मिलना...

इस दफा तुम हमसे यूँ मिलना
जैसे मिल रहे हो ज़माने बाद
कुछ दिल में मुहब्बत रखना
कुछ दिल में जगह ख़ाली रखना
कुछ जुबान पे मिश्री रखना
कुछ नज़रों में हौसला रखना।

बदलता है थोड़ा कुछ रोज़ ही
जब मौसम कुदरत का बदलता है
तुम एक आंख बदलाव पे रखना,
दूसरी से तुम मेरे अन्दर झांक कर देखना
जो मिल जाऊं मैं कहीं
मुझे ऐतहेराम से दफना देना

... मुर्दे यूँ शहर में घूमें
तो जिंदा लोगों को रश्क होता है
और जो चुप चाप मर जाये
तो लोग उन्हें ढूँढ़ते रहते हैं!

Farewell

As I leave you
Amidst the excited faces
Engrossed into something common

As I cross by you
Smiling and nodding to a talking face

I feel you going away...
Bit by bit becoming distant
Staying beautiful forever
Frozen in time, in memory

I feel an urge to stop
To drink into this vision of You!
My steps deny pleasure what my eyes seek.

... Together, I experience a sense of LOSS
unspoken, undefined and bottomless

I wonder, Only sometimes

We met NOT on a crossroad,
Travelled NOT as co-passengers,
Shared an intimatcy NOT bestowed by fate,
Looked at a picture and did NOT think of the same thoughts,

Yes, we met and travelled and shared NOT by design but out of love.
Therefore how could it have a shape, foreseen?

I wonder, Only sometimes
But mostly I surrender!!
